Gloria Moore: Mystery and Christian Psychological Writer

Dr. Gloria Moore is a Christian Behavioral Health Psychologist. She specializes in working with adults and children with challenging behaviors. She began as a missionary and evangelist in the early 2000s. She founded C-HIM (Changing Hearts International Ministries) in 2005. CHIM’s mission is to “Change hearts and minds one soul at a time.” She has served in several mission fields in the Tidewater area before moving to Texas, Florida, Georgia, and eventually China. She recently made several mission trips to Mexico City and Juarez, where she plans to start a Christian school for children.

In 2020, she started “Policing through Prayer Ministry.” While visiting a relative in Norfolk, she heard complaints from some in the neighborhood. As she listened, she heard God say that the people in that community did not need the police; He also said they could police their own community through prayer. With those thoughts in mind, Dr. Moore started PTP to teach people how to pray and to police their own homes, jobs, and communities. PTP is rooted in Ezekiel 3:17, where God said to the prophet, “Son of man, I have made you a watchman for the house of Israel: therefore, hear a word from my mouth, and give them warning from me (NKJV).”

She currently owns Destine for Greatness (DFG), a private, nonprofit mental health counseling agency that serves those in need of healing. She offers faith-based counseling, coaching, mentoring, and teaching.

Books by Gloria Moore

The Stalker Picked Me

Dr. Moore, a prolific writer, has authored several books. She writes from a Christian psychological perspective. Her first book, The Stalker Picked Me: One Woman’s Struggle to Overcome Childhood Trauma, was published several years ago. The book follows a 35-year-old former schoolteacher who has lost the first 10 years of her memory. The reader goes on a journey with the teacher as she discovers who she is. The book is also an autobiography of Dr. Moore’s life. It chronicles a sequence of traumatic events that began in childhood and did not end until age 33, when she became a Christian.

A Close Look at PORN in the CHURCH

Dr. Moore believes the Bible has the answers to all of life’s problems. There is nothing we can think, feel, say, or do that is new or unknown to God. Therefore, the purpose of “Porn in the Church” is to help people struggling with pornography and other vices. Hopefully, if Church folks saw that God had dealt with pornography before, they would not be afraid or ashamed to ask Him for help. I encourage everyone to be very prayerful as they read. I pray that the book helps you.

Dr. Moore is a former educator. In 2010, she founded the Ben Hicks Institute for Christian Counselors (BHICC). BHICC is a private Christian counseling school that trains lay members of the Church to counsel individuals with histories of trauma, using Biblical principles from the Word of God. The school was approved by the Virginia State Board of Education as an institution of higher learning.

Legacy of a Leader: About Gloria’s Great Grandfather

Welcome to Ben Hicks Institute for Christian Counselors (BHICC). The purpose of BHI is to equip leaders with a modern-day message of hope to share with the world. BHI’s owner and founder, Dr. Gloria B. Moore, is the great-granddaughter of the late Ben Hicks. Ben Hicks’ dedication and love for the LORD inspired him to build a church (Zion Southampton) for the Lord’s people. A Mulatto, he became educated in an era when many could not afford to attend school. Recognizing the importance of education, he also built a school for unwed mothers. Christian schools, like the church, have always been a focal point for teaching God’s people His Word. Therefore, as a tribute to God and in honor of Ben Hicks, I have been privileged by God to carry on a great legacy.

Dr. Moore’s Testimony

When I was 10 years old, I lost both of my parents. My mom died suddenly of a heart attack, and my father remarried a few months later. My father, whom I loved and cherished deeply, moved in with his new wife and didn’t take me with him. I felt abandoned and rejected by both parents. I became angry at my mom for dying and upset with my father for leaving me. I had to leave my siblings, whom I knew, and move in with strangers, my sister and her family. That was a very dark time in my life. After the move, I became depressed and withdrew. I started wishing I would die. During that same year, I was sexually abused. That entire year was very traumatizing; I experienced one traumatic incident after another. By the time I was 15, I decided to end it all. I didn’t want to die; I just wanted the pain to go away. An unsuccessful suicide attempt left me with an upset stomach and an allergic reaction to aspirin, nothing more. Today, I am a happy Christian. I am thankful that the Lord did not let me die. He had a plan for my life, and He has one for yours too. I still remember the trauma, but the pain is gone. I no longer cry or get angry when I think about my past. Instead, I praise God and glorify His name. I am so thankful to the Lord because I am truly healed.
